A Day at the Park

Action shot on the swirly slide! Whee!

Learning to climb like the big kids. Corey takes this activity
very
seriously. This pic looks a bit like toddler boot camp. ;)

Next mission in toddler boot camp: climb up the slide.
Corey gets some help from an "older" girl.

Finally at the top! Corey gets ready to slide down, but his
expression is still stoic. Playing is serious business!

Corey meets a sweet little boy about his age and they practice sharing.
Bouncy balls are a huge deal at the playground. Whoever has the ball is
envied by all the other toddlers. So funny! :)

Corey and his new friend find half a bike.
"What IS it? And what does it want from us?"

Corey's little friend has a gorgeous chihuahua with kitty-soft fur.
Corey gently touches her nose and declares "NOSE?"
He finds her collar fascinating.

Balancing lesson from Dad.

They both have great balance! Adam's walking backwards
without thinking twice, and Corey's a natural.

Five minutes later, Corey's got it down!

Dad enjoys a well-earned break on the slide.

Rock n' Roll Kid

I spent the weekend with "the family": Buddy, Kim, Adam and Corey. We had way too much fun. Corey was in a rare mood on Sunday morning. He hit the lever on his musical easel toy and starting dancing to "Old MacDonald," so I got out the Wild Hogs soundtrack and put it in the PS2 for him. That got him bouncing around! Gramma says he likes ANY music, but I humbly disagree... he definitely has preferences. He enjoys music with a strong beat that he can bust a move to. He's a rock n' roll kid for sure, and he loved all the classic rock tracks from Wild Hogs.

It will be awesome to play these songs for him in about 10 years. I'm curious to see the reaction. Will he get a wave of nostalgia and start dancing around? Will he be embarrassed and say, "Oh my god, what was I thinking??" Whatever he does, it will be hilarious and adorable, 'cause that's Corey! :)

Daily Shenanigans

Well I finally got fed up with the minimal blogging capabilities on myspace. I'm trying this out because Jen, my boss's wife, posts adorable pics of her twin boys on her blog. I've been wanting to start a scrapbook for Corey, but this is cooler... why? 'Cause people can look at it on the internet, instead of coming over and flipping through a scrapbook. I've got to start keeping up with Corey's daily shenanigans. He does something surprising and unique every day, and these are the little things we forget so easily.

For example, last night's trip to IHOP. Corey fell in love with our waitress. Every time she walked by he'd garble at her happily. When she came over and said "Hi" to him, he grinned, squealed, and crinkled his nose with delight. I told her, "Wow, he is INTO you! I don't know why..." Hope she didn't take that the wrong way. ;)

While Corey's new friend was away, he amused himself with seasoned fries dipped in barbeque sauce. He LOVES barbecue sauce. I joked with Adam that one day we'll find him in the kitchen chugging a bottle of it. But man, do NOT get him near Ranch dressing. He thinks it's poison and freaks out if he gets it on his hand. He'll flail around, flicking little blobs of it everywhere. Wow.

More later...
